How to Use eSIM on Your HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro

The availability of eSIM technology varies by region and network carrier, and support is currently limited to certain phone models. To utilize this feature, devices must be equipped with a built-in smart chip for eSIM cards, typically measuring 2.5 x 2.3 mm. Users can verify their device's compatibility by accessing the "Settings" menu and selecting "About Phone" to view the eSIM ID information.
Supported Huawei smartphone models include the P40, P40 Pro (excluding P40 Pro+), and Mate 40 Pro.
Activation of eSIMs involves obtaining a QR code from the network carrier and following these steps:
- Navigate to "Settings" > "Mobile network" > "SIM management," where the option to add an eSIM is available under SIM 2 settings.
- Scan the received QR code to initiate eSIM activation.
- Alternatively, manually enter the activation code or select the QR code from the device's gallery.
- Confirm the addition of the eSIM, which will begin downloading.
- Once downloaded, the enabled eSIM will be visible in the eSIM settings.
Users can manage multiple eSIM profiles simultaneously, selecting the default SIM for mobile data and calling, and enabling call forwarding between SIMs if necessary. Depending on the device, up to 10 eSIM profiles can be installed. To switch between profiles, users must disable the current one before activating another. Deleting an eSIM profile should be preceded by its deactivation to avoid inactivity and subsequent reactivation through the network operator.
